Welcome to Barclay Guest House

We are a non smoking guest house situated on the level, just 75 yards from Paignton Green and the sandy Blue Flag beach. The Pier, Harbour and Apollo Cinema are just a few minutes walk. There is plenty to do for all age groups from the young to the not so young.

Love the sea… then you can enjoy deep sea fishing, sailing, boat hire, windsurfing, water and jet skiing, or perhaps just a gentle toe dipping in the sea. The quaint old fishing village of Brixham is a short distance away. We have miles of wonderful coastline with sheltered bays and secluded coves. As an added bonus you may be able to spot the dolphins in the bay. Take a gentle boat ride along the river Dart and observe idyllic places along the way.

Love your food… we are surrounded by fabulous restaurants from great seafood dishes to that fabulous steak you dream about. There is a wide choice of quaint coffee shops, café bars and pub fayre so you need never go hungry.

Love the land… then you can enjoy some excellent coastal walks along part of the South West Coast Path which is Britain’s longest foot path (630 miles). The country estate of Cockington is just a mile from the sea front with pretty thatched cottages and acres of parkland and woodland.

There are many museums, castles and stately homes and gardens to choose from. You are ideally situated to enjoy daily outings to Dartmoor National Park, Plymouth and Exeter.

The picturesque villages of Widecombe in the Moor, Buckfastleigh and Shaldon are always worth a visit including Babbacombe Model Village. Take a scenic ride on the steam train to Dartmouth. Of course not forgetting a visit to Paignton Zoo, one of the largest in the country, renowned for breeding and conservation programmes.

There are several theatres to choose from and plenty of shops in the resort towns of Paignton, Torquay and Brixham to browse in.
